How to Hide a TV Using Art

By Amy Wright | Apr 10, 2018

Looking for a fun, easy and cost-effective way to hide your TV? Well, we’ve got you (quite literally) covered!

There’s so much you can do with canvas prints. Time and time again, our amazing and creative customers come up with unique ways of using their CanvasPop photo prints around their home.

One of our customers, William, ordered a large canvas print and used it in an innovative way to hide his TV. When William reached out to us to share his awesome tips on how to hide a TV using art, we had to share it with all of you. Check out these 3 easy steps to find out how you can turn your TV into a stunning piece of art!

Step 1

Measure your TV, and note down the size. Keep the size in mind as you’ll need to add a buffer for the photo print’s framing to ensure there’s enough space between the TV. We recommend 2” of buffer on each side.

Step 2

Source an image that you want to print. Whether it’s from your camera or Smart phone, CanvasPop can get it printed. You can also find free images on great sites like Unsplash or inexpensive classical art digital files at Awesome Art.

Step 3

Go to CanvasPop and get started on ordering your canvas print. We recommend you order the 1.5” deep option to give the canvas enough depth to hide your TV. Most modern flat screen TVs will easily be covered by a 1.5” depth frame.

Here are the notes we received from our customer William.

I recently installed a 65 inch flat TV over my fireplace. I used your max sized print of a Monet (16 meg from Awesome Art high resolution), mounted it on a lightweight frame, and use it to hide the TV when we entertain and do not want the big black TV dominating the room.

When we are not hiding the TV we simply hang the Monet in a bedroom. When the picture is used to mask the TV it sits on a simple painted 2 x 4 (has guides attached for the picture) that we place on the mantel. The picture leans away from the wall at the same angle as the TV. It is kept from falling forward with a rubber band attached to a screw on the top of the picture stretching to an adhesive backed hook on the back of the TV. I thought you might be interested in this use of your very fine rendition of the Monet.”
